I guess we all tend to test limits whether their our own or set by others. (Do one really know his/hers limits without trying them out?)
Some people practice extreme sports, some join eating competitions, some drink themselves to oblivion, some protest, some practice anarchy, some stretch the line with their friends to see how far their friendships can last (I'm pretty sure I've been guilty of that...), there are so many examples....
I know I've been testing my limits for a while now:
in India I've tried to travel and be away from home for a long period, in Nepal I've realized how high a mountain I can climb and still breath, in Berlin I found out I can be just fine all by myself, in Guatemala I've tested my courage (just a step away from lava on an active volcano, walking in water in the dark with a candle to light the way, jumping cliffs....), and during this thanksgiving I've been testing the limits of my exhaustion!
I have had very little sleep in Guatemala and even less from the moment I got back to work! I've been running errands, entertaining friends, getting up at 3:30 a.m. in order to save a front row seat to the macy's parade for 4.5 h, then going to a thanksgiving dinner, ice skating in central park, working Saturday night, sleeping 5 h and working sunday morning, going to see a ballet straight after work, then going to a friend's birthday.....
on this note I think I'll just collapse here on the bed....
Good night!
doing things you never thought you'll do is one of the best ways to evolve. I don't think you checked your limits. You probably just created new one, far after the limits you had before.
