When all fails return to basics

Sometimes you need to check-out of yourself and look back in order to realize what you've gained in your training.
You evolve and adopt new skills that become a second nature and you cannot really tell while in the process of doing it...

Eureka! --- I have found my public solitude!!!
It has only taken me 9 months of working on that and 3 days of a break to see that it has happened!

Put your attention on your partner & everything will magically fall into place (:

Looking at life through musical glasses

Life is so much better when you spend a lot time on broadway shows (-;

At the moment there are 22 shows running on broadway - 21 are musicals...
What happened to all the plays?
Is it a "summer thing"?

Out of the 22 I've seen 14 so far...
3 of which during this past week:
Billy Elliot ,Promises, Promises & Come Fly Away.

The first 2 are totally worth seeing.
Though Billy Elliot was a bit disappointing....(too high expectations to begin with?!)
Promises, Promises was a lot of fun!!!!
Both shows give you broadway at its best: colorful, nicely performed, a lot of thought put into the set, great voices, costumes, cool choreography...

The 3rd one, on the other hand, is a waste of time & money ):
It's really bad and boring choreography to the sounds of Frank Sinatra's cd...
If you like the music, you can buy all the CDs for less than the ticket's cost. If you like dance shows, you can go to see so many good ones around this city.
Don't waste energy on this show that (no surprise) is closing soon!

La Cage Aux Folles

There are some seats theaters should not be selling for no price whatsoever!
Student rush tickets were invented to allow students (who usually don't have a lot of money) to see broadway shows, not to be able to sit in the theater while the show goes on & see quarter of a stage....
I think it's outrageous they sell these tickets for actual money!!!!

I have found an empty seat at the back of the orchestra and moved there before the show started so I could see it to the full....
I can say one thing: it's not worth it!

Maybe if they give out tickets for free?!
But even then I can think of better ways to spend 2.5 hours of my life.

The only thing worth anything in this show is the drag!

Go see it at your own risk (-;

Modern art is for everyone?

I went to the MOMA yesterday to check out the new exhibitions.
I found this:

It's part of a really big picture on a really big wall on the 2nd floor where everyone can see....
Use your imagination (or not) to check out this "fairy-tale" picture that the kids love so much (-;

Cell-phone

I remember a time I argued with my father about the possibility of being accessible everywhere you go....
He told me that soon enough everyone will carry a cell-phone at all times & I doubted that!

Life is sure as hell easier this way --> you need help, you can call for it!

But why the effin do you have to keep your phone on during a show??!
If you're really that important that the world won't continue spinning without you, don't go to places where you need to take a 1-3h break...
...and please, no texting ):

Off Broadway & free tix all around nyc

Hello all,

Your faithful broadway critic has expended her horizons towards off-broadway shows and is now willing to hand in her report:

Inner Voice is a 2 act musical. Each act is a 1 woman's story. The first was ok though a little dull, but the second was totally bizarre (which is the reason why I actually liked it better than the first). All in all I think this musical is worth SKIPPING!
It was an hour & a half that I'm definitely not getting back no matter how much I want to....

I have seen 39 steps on-broadway and off. It was so much better on-broadway, but still great off-broadway. This play is hilarious!
The acting is so exaggerated heading towards absurd leaving no choice but to be amused. Playwriting at it's best!

But the best of these three was That Face.
I had no expectations whatsoever since it's a pretty new play that I have heard absolutely nothing about...
The actors were unbelievably good & the play itself left us shocked & disturbed (but in a good way).

If you too would like to get free tickets to see off-broadway shows,
just follow Student Rush on Twitter - http://twitter.com/StudentRushNYC.
They give away tickets to different off-broadway shows almost every day & all you have to do to get them is call whenever you see a tweet about it....

I hope you use this information wisely.

Yours truely,
me.

New York real-estate

New York city is probably one of the most difficult places in the world to find a decent apartment in....
I've been looking for a simple one bedroom apartment for 5 month or so!
The results are as following:
apartment too small, apartment is on the 4th floor walk-up, apartment is way too crappy!...
What's the deal with that?
Who the effin is willing to take a tiny-crappy apartment for $2000???

You get to the point that when you actually stumble upon a decent apartment, you're shocked!
But then you need to put in an application.
If you thought that looking for an apartment is tedious, wait 'till you get to the application....
Either you make in a year 40 times your monthly rent or you need to find someone who's willing to be your guarantor. Both you & your guarantor need to show like your entire bank statements, tax statements, recommandations from previous landlords, letter of employment stating your income & position, permission to get credit check...

Now let's say you have found a cute apartment, put in an application & amazingly enough got approved: you're supposed to sign this so not fair contract!

I have found a cute apartment after a crazy search, put in an application, got approved, went back to the apartment in order to see it one last time before signing the lease just to find out from a neighbour that the building is in really bad shape with terrible noisy tenants ):
